The HTTP request or the data packet. Take your pick. My first response anyway is SO what? What is your threat? There is no sensitive information being exchanged. The http request is ALWAYS in the clear blue, so to speak. The cryptography can't be established until there is a handshake.

If the website has no forms, it is even more absurd.

    .... learn.

cryptography is not the same as security and security impies you have something that needs to be secured.

YOu want to be secure... THROW AWAY your cellphone. None of it is secure.

Some of us would like the tread to stay open that way Kevin can keep us updated when a break in his case opens up, then we have the original thread to reference.

    Thanks.

    OK. Learning is fun!

...but, like @OldSilverDollar just pointed out, HTTP discussions are completely off-topic on this thread. If you'd like to start a new thread over in General Discussion with your last post, I'll be happy to join the discussion.

(BTW, you'll probably want to update your links. A lot has changed since 1999.)

The only reason I really got into it is because Dougs site has a self signed certificate, and I hope that doesn't deter people from using it.

Sorry to hear this. You need to register your missing coins with the Art Loss Register database. The Art Loss Register maintains the world's largest database of stolen art, collectibles, and antiques. This way the pieces have a better chance of being found, even if someone tries to take them through customs. You can mention the silver bars, although I think your best shot is with the coins. I wish you the best.

They could have stolen a customer list somewhere on one of their jobs.

The silver is much easier to unload, the coins another story. Somebody is sitting on them if they are out of the hands of the thieves. Eventually they will try to move the coins and the paper money. You know what you had that is most easily sold.
Get the 'riding D.A.s name and number from the police, and speak to that person. Make sure that your interests are being protected. The D.A. may be able to get the stuff back for you by squeezing the guys caught.

Such a terrible story - In instances where coins or other collectables are stolen are there any instances where these are recovered? I can't believe that the collectables are easy to unload - also were they specifically looking for these items which makes you wonder how they knew you had them or was this a random robbery.

Occasionally, but pretty anything that gets stolen is never recovered unless the thief is basically caught trying to escape with it
