I agree that these 5 ouncers can be readily found. The moon surface core does show up from time to time, usually in the 1 ounce and 50C versions. The moon surface core with the flag label up top in the 5 oz variety is rare. I've been looking for a few years and this was the second one that I've found. It's been one of my Unicorns.
I cannot believe so many people pay extra $$ for a "Special Label" signed by ..., etc. It would be MUCH different IF the special label were an ORIGINAL signature (maybe) it would be nice if the TPG's used only one label, ie, NGC Brown label. I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. Welcome to CT @LDRider, thanks for your service. Semper Fi Phil
I am not a label guy either. I did go all in for the Apollo coins though. All mine are in the government packaging but I can see why the OP wanted that label. It is pretty cool and totally accents the Apollo themed coin.
Its the same. The labels and cores that are exclusive are technically owned by the submitter. If i had to guess the OPs coin was submitted by HSN who I doubt would be very helpful. They have the rights to a lot of the special NGC cores
baseball21, posted: DING DING DING. Thats what exclusive means, they control when it can be used. DONG, DONG, DONG. This is what "exclusive" actually means; If I still worked at NGC, I would get the coin back immediately after reading this thread and slab it. NGC OWNES the plastic. How is that for EXCLUSIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE ?!
No, not true. NGC was merely acting as an agent, which doesn't convey any rights. Regardless of what you WANT. WANT doesn't make it so. It's also likely that cracking the coin out will damage the core, so it can't be reused. It's further unlikely that whomever had the cores made ordered more than 1 or 2 over what they needed. Back on ignore for you. Bye Felicia.
I am continually amazed at what folks think cannot be done. I guaran-damn-tee you "experts" that if that slab was owned by a VIP it could be fixed if they wanted AND NOT ONE OF YOU "legal experts" or TPGS "fanboys" could tell it was done. Unfortunately, there is no way to prove which of us is correct.
Some of us just have respect for contracts and expect them to be upheld. I would expect a legitimate TPG to take them seriously as well

OldSilverDollar, posted: "Why can't they just transfer the old label into the replacement holder?" Because some posters (and apparently the TPGS too) think it would not be the right thing to do. Case closed and still cracked.
