If I had to guess, you'll at least find a pre-59 cent. A logical guess considering the age of the property. They also seem to be the bread and butter of most detector finds (aside from pull tabs and bottle caps).

I think you will find at least one Mercury dime, and some other coins including wheat cents and modern coins. Good luck though, look forward to seeing results!

@lordmarcovan you will unearth a coffee can. The coffee can will be filled with wheaties. All the wheaties will be 1943 of course. And every one will be copper, double of course ;) You'll single handedly corner the market.

    Good luck Rob.

You didn't say how large of an area you will be searching, but if it is a regular size lot; four Pop Top tabs, a small piece of chain, two tin cans, and three pennies. LOL

"entry post", Hopefully when the boundary markers were set they used a heavy metal rod. Some did, some didn't. I recently had to pull mine out of the cobwebs in the basement to assist a neighbor find her wedding band that slipped off her finger while she was cleaning up after a wind storm and heavy rain. Took me a lot longer to hear the buzzer than it used to, but we were successful.
    Good Luck

    OK, here 'tis.

    I found a 1927 Mercury dime.

    Psych! Fakeout. ;)

Here's the thing, you see. I found that dime in my silver stash, not in the ground. I'm including it with the Type 1 (Wheat cent) elongate, to sweeten the prize a bit.

Because, you see, the detector outing was a total bust.

No property markers were found. No coins. No nothing.

    The detector didn't work.

Well, it did- sort of- the display came on when the new batteries were put in, and the machine signaled on the test quarter I dropped on the ground, but it kept going absolutely haywire with false signals. I think the circuitry got fried during seven years of storage in our outbuilding. :(

So the detecting was a flop. But I had a nice visit with our friends, and was given some fancy donuts from an upscale bakery on the island.

    Y'all (at least one of y'all) won't end up empty-handed, either. ;)

There's still an elongated cent plus that 1927 dime to be had. Let me fire up the random number generator...
