I was told that the $2 star note pictured below is a key to that series. Too bad it was folded so much (it came to me that way), but I still have it nonetheless.
What is significant about the solid star notes? I notice several in this thread in post #1, #7, #19, #24.
When small-sized notes were first introduced, the earliest series used a slightly larger, solid Star to designate a replacement note. By series 1935 the BEP had changed to the smaller, hollow Star that is still used today.
Yes, it's a replacement MPC note. The last letter in the serial number is missing to indicate that it is a replacement. In one of my older book the value of this note was about in EF was $110.00 with then only 21 were reported. Cannot fine one on my newer books right now.
Always check all "stars" to see in what direction the main point is pointed. It should be straight up, if not, it's a keeper. If the main point is pointed down then this is a mistake.
