Hey guys. Got my reverse (alpha and omega) proof ASE's yesterday and immediately went to task on photographing them. I employed 4 different techniques in achieving my task: 1) White felt background with direct lighting 2) Black felt background with direct lighting 3) White felt background with indirect lighting 4) Black felt background with indirect lighting I want to emphasize that I changed all backgrounds to 'black' in the post processing (editing) procedures. Which results do you like better? I will add that reverse proof coins are extremely difficult to photog and achieve satisfying results. The following sets of 4 photographs each are done according to to the numbers I have listed above........
OK. I think you're done posting now. I like 3A. What's the difference between the first (A) and second (B) entry for each set?
I have, on occasion, taken the coin out of the capsule to photograph, but I didn't want to risk getting any dust or stray hairs on the coin. The cats like sleeping on the felt I use, and while I get the roll of packing tape out to clean up the felt, it still doesn't pick up everything.
I was liking 3 until I saw 4, which is the one that I prefer. As previously mentioned, not easy coins to photograph. Mine are expected to arrive on Tuesday. The set ordered ‘by my brother’ was canceled by the Mint a couple days after it was confirmed. Like others have reported, the checkout process took a little over an hour.
I like the first set in your third batch of photos. Totally not a photography person. That’s just the ones that look best to me.
