I posted this back in 2018. It's not a Two Dollar Bill but 2 One Dollar Bills damaged and taped together.
Found it in a NYC street. It makes no sense

I had this since April13, 1976 !! I was only 10 years old .

 

First day of issue Postal Cancelation, with no postage stamp. Star.

 

Hmm. @alurid I didn't even know they had them w/0 the stamp . Stamp, stamp, stamp. There , it's the only other time I can say that here .

It makes no sense especially because there appears to be more than 50% of each bill still there. Which means a bank will give you a “full” dollar bill for each one.

 

These were done by my Father in-law. He was a post delivery worker.(mailman)
Most of these were done to prove that the bill was a first day issue.
The post office will cancel a stamp, But I don't believe they can just stamp cancel anything. That is why most cancelled $2 bills have a stamp on them.
