I am extremely suprised that the 21-30 crowd is the majority here, or at least the majority who voted. I just don't see very many people my age when I go to coin shows. With that said I'm 28 years old. Fof you younger guys, it always helps to bring your wife or girlfriend because the dealers are always eager to talk to young women and sometimes you can use this to your advantage.
I think you'll find that there are a few MENSA types here as well as many people with an IQ over 150, which is "gifted" territory. There are also a few people here, regardless of age, who would have trouble even spelling numismatest, err, numismatacist, err, munismatic, err... Coin Collector!
I was going to vote, but forgot my age. Anyhow I am in the majority. My wife says I need to go to the kid catagory. Not sure what she means by that. Did not even know I was married. Anyhow this forum is about Toyoto's, right?
LM_O!! It appears that most get into it sometime in their twenties, then drop out for awhile, and get back into it in their fifties.
Gifted is 120 (at least when I was a child in the 1980s), MENSA becomes interested in candidates with those possessing an IQ of about 130 or greater, and I believe "genius" territory begins around 160-165... I bet many, many of us here are beyond "average" IQ. :high5:
I got into it when I was pre teen, then dropped out for...40 years. Now back into it with a pretty decent "raw" set.
Me too -- well, except for that last sentence ;-) I got into it around age 10 (1967, just missing my opportunity to get silver in change) kinda lost interest around 1973 or so, and, other than throwing wheaties into a jar, dropped out until last year . . .
Strictly speaking they're a plurality, not a majority (majority means more than half, not just more of them than of anyone else). So far the ages look almost like a normal distribution. Well it would if theyre were more in their 30's and 40's I guess. Kind of shows about when people tend to develop an interest and how long they keep it.
Do you have something Num... but your just not sure what that is? I voted too 55, but I gotta tell ya, those numbers sure make me look older then I feel which is around 35. So should I vote again? :secret:
If it was my forum, I would keep under 18 years of age out of it. I joined a while back, quit and forgot my everything......LOL Even now, I don't use it much. But it is an ok place to chat with others.
