Hi, I have a 1952 D D/D Nickel. 5 Full Steps. I don't have a Cherry Pickers Guide so I can't find anything on this coin anywhere on the net. Any idea if its a new variety? Or a common one? And what could it be worth? Worth sending in to PCGS for variety grading? It's a gorgeous coin..may even be MS66. Thanks
If it's truly gem bu then it could be worth a couple hundred, maybe even more. May even be a MS67. Whether you should have it graded or not really depends on what you're gonna do with it. If you want to sell it, yes you may want to have it graded but first take a look at feebay sales and Teletrade as well to see what that year goes for. I was really surprised to find war nickels on Teletrade going for more than doable prices. rots of ruck
Oh yeah I'm going to sell it. I just can't find a 1952 D/D Full Steps anywhere to get an idea on value. I know what a 1952 D Full Steps retails for in all grades...just not a '52 D/D FS. I've never tried Teletrade, but the offer to have variety coins graded at PCGS for flat $18.00 through Teletrade is a pretty good deal. (They only charge the fee if the coin sells for less than $250.00). I have several D/Ds I'm going to sell including two super nice 1946 D/Ds Full Steps and a also a 1945 P DD Reverse Full Steps, which is at least MS65. Plus others including some very nice 1955 D/Ss, one of those will surly grade MS66. Just don't know about Teletrade..good offer on having your coins slabbed by PCGS / NGC , but it seems the coins don't sell for near as much as Heritage. Don't know with those high dollar coins I'd be better off paying the higher fees to have them slabbed myself by PCGS...Then cosigning to Heritage. Esp the 45 P DD reverse FS and of course the two '46 D/D FSs
Well you could figure it out by checking on a different year F/S nickel in the early 50's that's a D/D. Just don't check on a 1950-D and you should be fine. Just an idea, I don't know for certain that you can find out.
