1848 Large Cent with rust lines

I bought a large cent (my first), as even with the rust marks, it was still the most attractive large cent that was in my (addmittedly low) price range (for a non precious metal coin).

Any ideas on value, or is it worthless due to the damage?

Not worthless - my personal opinion is no large cent is worthless, some are just worth more than others.

 

Worth around $15-20 IMO. The rust damage isn't too damaging to the coin's eye appeal.

 

I would grade it at about $10-12 bucks. Common year, only about 45 different die varieties that year. No, I cant tell what yours is with these pictures.
