Just another edition to the collection. A nice N-11 1831. Enjoy and as always all comments good or bad are welcome. For some reason this coin was much harder to photograph than I would have thought. In reality the reverse is slightly darker than the obverse - not much, but just flipping the coin to shot a picture did not work.
Very nice coin Mark. EF45 ish? I am not good with Newcomb numbers. Is the N-11 the only one with obverse breaks connecting all stars on the obverse?
Wow, I love that die crack on the front and that cud on the back. That is one cool looking coin. Very clean looking lines. Is that caramel color the true color or is it a bit washed out from the camera?
N-11 and N-12 share the same obverse. Several of the others mentioned die cracks, but I did not see another mention all the obverses. And the grade on the holder by NGC is AU-50. I could go either way on the coin. The obverse is a good match to the color. The reverse is slightly darker and it was a bear to even get close to having it show up in the pictures. I must have spent 40-50 minutes playing with the lighting trying to get it to look right. I think the reverse is inset a little in the holder adding to the difficultly of photographing.
Mark - I especially like the "cud creep" on the reverse. Very distinctive and interesting. Nice coin!
She is a beauty. THE OLDEST Penny in my collection is a 1843 new brunswick bought last week at : my coin shop in quebec canada
Very nice! I hope to someday get my large cent collection going. They seem to me like an outstanding value in today's coin market!
Sweet coin Mark !!!!! Seems your white balance is off if you just flipped on same background....your background is different pic to pic.....I have that prob with the white NGC slabs.... try a different light ( Reveal light work amazing ) and use a different setting on the camera. Again, nice new coin, congrats !!
