Would eBay pull an authentic 1883 (no cents) gold plated (racketeer) nickel?

I am afraid to re-list it, ebay told me specifically not to.

Checking eBay, the five 1943 copper cents checked all had replica on them. The Racketeer Nickels are being sold there, with no apparent markings on them. Are 1883 nickels exempt because at least in theory they were made many years ago, although I would imagine they are also made today? Are the Racketeer Nickels not as big a threat as the 1943 copper plated cents? Has eBay not yet got around to the Racketeer Nickel?

I showed you their rules. If you follow them ALL, you can relist it without a problem. Otherwise, you are just looking for trouble.

No way I could bring myself to stamp it 'copy'. I mentioned in the auction that it sticks to a magnet. I'd only make a buck or so on it, so it goes in the junk bag for someone else to try a magnet on it some years from now.

I would agree that if eBay specifically asked you not to re-list the item, than you should choose to be safe over sorry. Because even if you follow what some one here thinks is right and eBay still thinks your wrong they will probably give you a greater consequence on the 2cd offense since in eBays oppinion you would have violated them twice and even not listened to their 1st warning. IMHO :)

I Had Auction Pulled for selling a 1920-30 Counterfeit Trade Doller..
I CLEARLY Was selling it as a
    Counterfeit / Historical Item..
I would NEVER try to pass as REAL.. but thought that others would collect such things for Historical / Antique Value..
Ebay pulled for same issue.. "NOT STAMPED COPY/REPLICA"
I don't think they understand about the Nickels.. or by policy they would have to pull them..

I am keeping the Trade Dollars for my own collection of Counterfeit coins..

I do understand why EBAY would have this policy as all of us do.. BUT.. IF CLEARLY auctioned AS
Counterfeit.. and NOT trying to sell a fake as real.. ( Like China ).. I would hope they would let us sell.. THEY WONT.. But I wish they would..
I guess that is ANOTHER reason to be on sites like this.. Connections/ Trades/ Sales... AND so much help!!
Thanks to all for the input.

IMO is not a copy or replica. Because it's a plated authentic coin. A replica should be made from the begin, not altering an authentic coin.
"Copper plated 1943 steel cent" should be a good title.

RLM is correct here. Thinking this would be treated like any plated coin, I listed one a while back and Ebay pulled the listing. I clearly stated "copper plated" in the title and was very specific as to the fact that it was a steel cent that had been plated in the item description. Ebay still pulled it. However, Ebay approached it with me from the standpoint of an altered coin used to defraud. Apparently with Ebay it does not matter what your intentions are, but what the intentions of the buyer of your coin might be in the future. Made no sense to me. Here's part of our conversation:

If you want a (educated?) stab in teh dark as to why they enforce that policy so strictly, here is another thread for you to read; http://www.cointalk.com/t35770/. Considering that they were not enforcing it at all when that thread started and today there are none listed unstamped.

Sadly from a Buyer and collector point of view.. I do understand that part.. When I first got my Counterfeit Trade Dollars I took them to a Shop.. I asked what I could do with them.. the Owner said.. "I would sell them to some sucker..."
I have NEVER been Back to that shop..
I did have a local buyer who saw my ad on CL .. He wanted them but I got such a crummy feeling in just a couple emails that I told him forget it..
I DON'T want anyone else to have any counterfeit coins.. well.. But me..
And I can understand Ebay not wanting coins in some Scumbags hands..
I think I like the Idea of stopping these as much as possible..
Now I do like the idea of the History of counterfeit coins.. That is why I like mine.. that is the Value. Cringe at the thought of some re-sellers..
Could you imagine if there were no rules like these.. It would be a coin dog eat dog jungle..
As a seller I would hate to think of something I sold as HISTORICAL COUNTERFEIT being resold as Authentic

Now, that being said.. I want a one of your Plated coins!!!
