My mom found this in the sandbox when she was a child, and have kept it in a small silk pouch her entire life. She passed away about 5 years ago, and I inherited this. Eveyone that I've showed it to thinks it looks reeeally old. Anyone have any suggestions for what it might be?

    Sorry for bad english:)

I believe it might be one of the Sultans of Delhi perhaps from the 13th century AD but I am neither certain nor have a clue which one. Was your mother from India?

Nope. We are all from and live in Norway. This coin doesn't look a bit scandinavian though.;)

What is the size and weight? Any guesses what it's made of? Silver, bronze, copper?

    What is it?

Try going to: coincommunity.com and coinpeople.com. In looking up info on another "What is it" type of coin I came across these sites that maybe able to help you. If I have time later on I'll look too.

Good Luck, Sorry to here about your mom

LOL.....no. Just that the OP's Viking ancestors ranged all over the world and could have brought back something like what was found in that sandbox.

Some kid probably thought it was a movie prop, took it from his dad's desk and then proceeded to loose it. Kid's probably in Foster care still today. :O)
