That would work as well. Another option is to subscribe to the Grey Sheet which is a weekly newsletter that has updated prices each issue. It's very popular, but it's not free.
The Redbook is published at least 6 months before it's cover date. In fact, I think that the 2011 will be out in a few months. Coin prices on the other hand, change from week to week. There is no annual publication, especially one printed so far in advance that could be used as an accurate guide for buying coins.
For:rjbeck, If you're concerned about substitutions for the silver coins in the sets try this test. Get apiece of ordinary gift wrapping tissue paper and put it over the coins in their holder and see if they look dark, if so they are clad. If they're silver they will show through as a dull silver color!! Good luck
The Redbook is good for a lot of information, mintages, and historical facts. If you use their prices as a guide on what to bid at an auction, you will quite often pay more than you should. Don't get me wrong! I love the Redbook, and own a couple of them. I just would try a monthly or weekly periodical as a price guide instead, or there are plenty of places on the web discussed in previous threads on Cointalk.
