So I got this set for 275.00.. Its complete.. I know nothing about the Postal Commemorative Society.. But its a neat set.. The Coins are Not great but OK.. One is the Bugs Bunny Variety..
The set has each coin with a Comm. Stamp and a small bit of info on Franklins life..
As for Silver .. I Know I got a good deal.. But as a Set.. What do you guys Think? Are the Stamp worth anything or is this set all Coin.. It is all about the Coins for me..
I like how its set up.. And I need to search a bit more for Varieties..
Is the Postal Soc. a bit like the "Franklin Mint"? I hope not..
Whoever org. Owned this I bet paid a bundle if so..

Considering what silver is at currently, I think you got a pretty sweet deal. As for the stamps, I'd say they are more of a novelty item than anything else. Maybe I'm way off on this one, but I think the stamps would be worth quite a bit more if they were not cancelled.

How are you figuring you came out alright on the silver?

Sorry,, I bought this last year.. As I look back at the Price I paid.. It was 175.00.. NOT 275.00

My head is full of numbers.. At the time it was just a bit under melt.. I remember being very happy with it being UNDER melt..
I tucked the set away with all the other hoard.. But today pulled it out to ask what you guys might think of this POSTAL SOC.
Sorry for the mistake.. AARRGGEEE>.. Don't start the Roast..

The stamps are VERY common and of no value.
Even as a philatelic/numimatic combination it's really only the Franklins that give them any value.

The silver alone in this set aloneis worth over $230. There is some numismatic value to these coins, especially the 1955 & 56. Even people buying these coins for investment purposes are willing to pay 20% over spot. Even if you through out the binder, stamps, and other display materials, I think it was a good deal. That is my opinion, of course.

The Postal Commemorative Society is owned by the same company that owns Danbury Mint. They also do the "gold-plated coins" like you see on tv and even gold-plated stamps.

The album does look very nice.

So.. Satan Made my set!! No!!!
Sorry, A bit overboard.. But As I have stated before in other threads..
I hate those guys.. The Danbury Mint!!
This set is nice.. It is a good display.. I am surprised

I like my other set better.. The one I worked/searched for..
I like being able to get a whole set at once but it does miss the "Love" I have for the others..

You got a good deal if it is a complete date and mint mark set. That's about 10X face.
    If it's just a date set, I don't know.

    P D & S .. The "Bugs Bunny" Variety has a bit of a premium..
35 Total Coins.. I think Silver was near 15.25 or so When I got it..

  13. I think at 10x face it is a pretty good deal (especially if you are happy with it). I agree that the stamped envelopes are not worth much if anything at all unless the set is part of some limited edition. It is cool that you got the Bugs Bunny variety included as well. TC

Am I the only one who cringes every time I see them messing with the coins? Gold plating and painting is just marginally better than cutting them down and using them for jewelry.
