I don't see it that way. I see a lot of good folks giving opinions. That's a good thing. Somewhere in the middle of those opinions is probably correct. You need a much better image. Something like this, showing detail and in focus.
But you want to know if the issue on your V Nickel is worth anything.. That tells me you are looking to make a profit. Amazing.
if you think otherwise then send them in to be looked at by a grading company, that way you have a expert opinion most can agree with
There is a known example of a damaged die that vaguely resembles a 5 on the cheek. Error expert Fred Weinberg has said it was was damaged by a piece of lint during during the working die manufacturing step. To clarify, it is not a 5 stamped into the die. It would need to match the font (exact size and shape) of an existing number used by the mint. The OP needs to show that the mark on his coin matches the known examples. Since it's from a damaged die, it will need to match exactly. Close = don't have it. BTW: I believe the original finder had been trying to hype up this coin a few years ago in order to create an artificially high value. Typically, coins struck from damaged dies are not worth anywhere near 4 figures.
