IMHO a grease filled die caused this, but adds no value to the coin

struck through grease, nice find foreign errors are not as valuable as us ones, but there will be a larger market in the future as us mint errors are drying up (at least the major ones are) and if offered for sale could net you 5-10.00 imho

For the most part, no, not really. The STG letters is not real common but not rare either. Plus, the wear is advanced, because of handling both sides exhibit excessive contact and circ. wear, not just a flattening of the high spots. However, the design of German coins has always been appealing, so if you like it, keep it.

I think I have kept almost all of the foreign coins I have run across over the last 59 years, but I am an exception to most other collectors…the only foreign coins I have not kept were those I deemed too damaged, and that doesn’t include older, worn G4 ones. I do admit I have some that are “on the borderline” that are in similar condition as your DM…worn enough to not keep, but interesting enough not to let them go.

I guess I am just plain hopeless. I love coins…imo…Spark

Not really. There's not a big market for German errors like there is for US errors. This is just a poorly made coin. My guess is that if you could make a few bucks on it, it would be from selling it to a US coin collector.
