    Have a coin should weigh around 2.7 grams I think. It's magnetic weight 3.0 Not bronze looks like silver. mir_20210917_171138.jpg

    Its a normal steelie just a little thick not much.Its supposed to be magnetic because steel has iron which is a very magnetic metal type.

    Magnetic = steel
    Slightly thick planchet but still steel with zinc coating
    Your scale only reads to .1 gram so it is rounding , likely up from 2.9+

    What kind of scale should I use?

    Your graduation is 0.1, you need 0.01. Much more accuracy

    It was tough times in 1943
    We were at war on 2 fronts at once.
    Rationing on all kinds of items
    Nickels lost the nickel content until 1946
    Thickness of rolled steel for coinage of cents was low priority

    I don't understand the edge of the coin. I'm thinking it should be much darker. I'm wondering if the coin was processed at some point.

    Not all them are extremely dark most of these suffered just like most of the war nickels.But this one appears to remain in its original state which explains the bright appearance.Im not seeing any signs that leads it to being reprocessed not shiny and the weight is pretty normal.

    Does not seem shiny replated .Seems like a lot of work for counterfeit.why don't they demagnetized .and change color.

    It’s made of steel with a zinc coating. They needed the copper for WWII. Very normal looking.
