Great read written by David Hendin Guy is the best when it comes to Jewish coinage. Thanks for sharing. And talk about eye candy, or at least fruit. Every coin in that article is cherry I still need to get one of those that features the Macedonian helmet, like the one on the article. One of my favorite Jewish coin features the Macedonian shield:
Nice feature by Hendin. Thanks for posting it, @cplradar! Here's a Judaean coin not included in the article that shows one of the fruits mentioned - along with some shields that @Ryro favors (albeit Roman, not Macedonian). Judaea. Procurators. Antonius Felix (52-59 AD). AE Prutah (16 mm, 3.13 gm). Dated year 14 of Claudius, 54 AD. ΝEΡW ΚΛΑΥΚΑΙCΑΡ(Nero Clau[dius]), two crossed oblong shields over two crossed spears. / ΒΡΙΤ(Brit[annicus]) (younger son of Claudius) above, L-ΙΔK-AI (year 14 of Caesar) in fields, six-branched palm tree bearing two bunches of dates.
Great reminder! This was my first Jewish coin. Not nearly as choice as yours. I bought it as my Britannicus (his portrait is just too expensive):
