Well it's Saturday . First off, its been 56 days without a cigarette !! Celebrations are in order . Stand up to nicotene " Y'all" . Please Please post your Standing Liberty Quarters . This is my only one :
I've posted before, but this is the coin that started everything for me when as an 11 year old in 1963 I found it while playing in the park across the street from my house. WOO-HOO naked boobie!!! After 50 years as a pocket piece.
When I was very young the ladies at the check out at Piggly Wiggly would hold all of the IH cents, Buffaloes, Mercuries, most prized of all, SLQs they received for me. Of course, all heavily worn but I didn't care. I really thought I would get an 8/7 S one day but no such luck. To this day I collect (no photos) SLQs as I consider them the most beautiful of US coins. Thanks for reviving the memory.
You have a nice set. My set is short of 1916, the overdate1918/17, 1921, 1923s, Most that I have been able to acquire are MS 60 and better. Some are full heads. Just got to where I have just stopped. I have many other collections besides coins. Also too old to just keep putting more $$$$$$ in now because today the price is way too much. I started collecting as a Boy Scout back in the 1950s. Still enjoy looking in my change to find more. Even now and then go and get rolls to search. This Covid has stopped much. Never order from the mint anymore since the very big guys get all before the little guys have a chance to order. The young will hardly be interested in Numismatics today because of the costs.
I, too, started when I was very young, but due to our many moves because my father was in the Army, I lost them on our way as well as my comic book collection. I don't have any pictures yet. I do have one slabbed, my 1924 NGC: MS 61 and two that are RAW, my 1918 and 1929.
