My order was scrubbed because the coins were needed else where. Didn’t want to go empty handed so the teller offered me some cents.I gladly accepted good thing I did:):),:banghead::banghead: I'll still take it.1946×5/1952. 20210910_164648.jpg 20210910_164701.jpg 20210910_164617.jpg 20210910_164632.jpg 20210910_164555.jpg 20210910_164538.jpg

This is no huge treasure score but it still struck me as odd and a bit fortuitous. As I was getting my rolls counted out at one bank a couple of days ago, a teller asked me about a penny she had - "this looks like an old one" - yup, 1956-D wheatie. I told her to keep it because it's worth five cents anyway. Instead, she offered to let me have it for face. Sure, I'll do that!

I used to do a lot of CRH.. never found any coins that old or scarce. The oldest/rarest finds I've ever had CRH were..
Cents-Early wheats and a very early 20th century Indian Head.
Nickels-Wartime silvers, Buffalo nickels and a couple of V nickels.
Dimes-Lots of silver Rosie's.. once found 5 mercs in a single roll as well.
    Quarters-No luck.

I think I'd go into shock if I were to find a FEC CRH. Being that they only made them from 1856-58 that would be a once in a lifetime find. However there was a guy on here roughly 5 years ago who posted a FEC he claimed to find roll hunting so I suppose it's atleast possible.

Hit a 2009-P Roosie today. Only took dozens of rolls. I still can't believe I've found seven silvers, and only two 2009's, hunting.

Yesterday I hit a 2009-P Jefferson, and a 1926 Buffalo. I get about as many original Buffaloes as 2009 Jeffersons. And then I got out of the car in the parking lot of the grocery store and found two pennies on the ground, one of which was a 1946 wheatie.

I must be in the twilight zone.

Well, I haven’t posted here in several months. Last year I took up arrowhead hunting when it became difficult to get half dollars. But a few weeks ago I tried to buy a partial bag of halves from my bank’s coin machine. I’ve bought bags here in the past, but the new branch manager said, “No - we can’t guarantee the amount in the bag”. I chewed on that for a few weeks and called my favorite teller Ronnie. He sold me bags in the past when he was at a different branch. I told him I would accept whatever the machine counter said was in the bag, no questions asked, and he convinced the manager to let me buy it. $229.50 yielded 2x90%ers & 18x40%ers. There was a lot of trash in the bag and some odd coins of various denominations. I ended up with about $230 all told, indicating that the machine counter was fairly accurate for maybe the wrong reason, lol. I’ve included a pic of one of my latest artifact finds, a Baker dart point (8000-6000 years old). Enjoy!

    That's a great score!
Awesome arrowhead too. I would love to go hunting for those. I found a few on my grandma's farm growing up but that was 20+ years ago.

Thanks FF, good to hear from you! Yes, artifact hunting has become my passion now. But I still have time to do a little CRH.

CRH hasn't been great for me lately either. Ebbs and flows.
Hoping to pick up 2 boxes of halves, 2 boxes of quarters, and 2 boxes of cents today. Fingers crossed.

I don't have a photo of it, but a co-worker, just a few days ago, dug up an 1867 IHC in pretty decent shape in her own yard. She's also found several other old coins metal detecting in her yard, including an 1827 large cent.

Made a deposit today and tried to get coins back, couldn't get much. Cherry-picked all 24 dollar coins from the teller's tray and found not one, not two, but THREE 1979 SBA wide rims! KIMG1403.JPG

Save them all. In a few years they'll be worth twice face value, and are absolutely guaranteed never to drop below being worth what you paid for them. Find another investment that can boast that kind of security, and rate of return.

I've picked up a few machine wrapped rolls of halves here and there over the last few weeks. I'm prospecting to see if the massive wave of 2018Ds has passed...My sample results indicate the worst of the wave may be over. As a result, I may play hooky from work tomorrow afternoon and hit a few banks for halves, woohoo!
