I have 5 coins with the same die scratches on each. The scratches are on the letter L in Liberty. All five also have the same characteristics on the Reverse. These is doubling within the pillars. I showed a close up of one Reverse and all five Obverse letter L.

Looks like they were minted earlier this year. Probably holding up better than the LSCs too.

I've had them since 1960 and just recently opened them.

That's cool. I bought an unopened roll of 1960-P's this summer. A couple of the coins had press grease and copper flakes on them. Its a really cool thing to be able to do.
Thanks for being part of the 1960 hoarding that helped to create my avatar coin.

I was in high school back then (graduated in 1961). With the change in 1959 I decided to keep several rolls of 58, 59 and 60.

JeffC Go explore something and think a happy thought!

I'm curious. I understand 58 (last of the old design) and 59 (first of the new design). But why '60?

Good question Jeff. Back then we did not get accurate news regarding the plans of the US Mint. We didn't have much on TV, no internet and no publications with coin news. Some of us were hedging, thinking the 1959 design might be just one year. We had known about the upcoming 1959, so we grabbed some 58's.
Edit: Doesn't make sense but the bank would get and hold some if we asked. So I got 60's before I realized. It's OK though.

Didn't see an answer but I'm guessing something to do with the first year of a new decade, 1960...right after the 58-59 old/new change...why not...?

@JeffC Well, thinking back I may have to modify my response to why I got rolls of the 1960's. I must have started buying rolls because I have several other rolls in the 60's. I am looking through them now.
