A little damage from a coin rolling machine and that’s a shame but it is what it is. A 1974-D DDO Kennedy Half Dollar. The first 3 photos are mine. The last photo is from the Red Book. It has definite strong doubling in TRUST. Even the T is doubled. I don’t go looking for things like this but when I saw it, it was so obvious I had to get it and it was a low price.
I think it Stage D, late die state. I think you have a winner there. http://www.varietyvista.com/12 Kennedy Halves/DDO Detail Pages/1974DDDO001.htm#Stage D Photos
As the die continued to deteriorate the doubling would change. RUS is what to look for. Mine has doubling on TR with very little on the U and some on the S.
Nice find - I haven't had much luck pulling 74 D DDO from bank rolls/boxes/bags, but luckily I did happen upon three in original mint sets. It's pretty cool when the doubling is THAT strong you don't really need a loupe to see it.
