I no longer buy items that have manufactured scarcity. So few, if any, of them ever become true desired rarities. The Canadian mint provides a good example of this.
Let alone take the time to read nerd-rage threads on coin forums ... PS- ‘Twas merely a therapy suggestion for those who might be feeling the angst. An outlet in which to channel the impotent rage, y'know...
Gee, darn. I guess I missed out on whatever it was. What coin issue were we talking about, again? LOL
lol, putting it in your bag was never the issue. If you didn't attempt to complete the purchase then you have no idea what everyone is talking about with their frustration. Once you entered your CC and shipping info, and then 'Place Order' the 'fun' began. So since you had no skin in the game, not wanting to spend the cash on lesser cash , you wouldn't have known that the site crash was mostly experienced in the checkout procedure.
I've purchased and/or attempted to purchase things from the mint in the past and couldn't even get to the portion I described. I was surprised to get that far haha.
Well, the mint sold 125000 coins in a little less than 3 hours. They'll do it again next time with no further investment in their system. They don't care because all the coins sold. Does anyone here seriously think they care? I was lucky enough to get mine after an hour and ten minutes. This is the third time I've experienced the CF that the mint laughingly calls their customer experience. I have all of the ASE's, including the 95-W through this issue.... and I'm done. I'm no longer attending the US Mint circus as I now consider my Eagle collection complete.
@Inspector43 Me too, this was my last hurrah with them. I did a conformation for this set about 10 PM EDT last night.
It was for me at first, but something else was going on with the site that first hour though. The sales that first hour were insanely slow because of it and at about the one hour point the site significantly improved for basically everyone and sales started happening at a steady pace with a quick sellout.
My order was confirmed at 12:26pm yesterday. My 'Bag' had the set in it from 12:00.05 and checkout was where the problems arose. That was the same scenario I heard from most people.
That'll be about enough outta you Wyatt Unless of course you'd like to be turned into a fuzzy bunny rabbit
Checkout was definitely the biggest issue, there just seemed to be a significant improvement about an hour later with the entire site
I had forgotten about the release. I wasn't going to even try as I am closing my collection of ASE and Modern Commemoratives. Too old to start any new series. But, I remembered about an hour and a half after the open. Clicked on, thought that this would be good to terminated my series, and, purchased a set. I was surprised that there were still sets available. There were a few hang-ups and it took a few resets, but it went through.
