Are you talking about the 2021 Morgans & Peace Dollars?

I bought 3 of the P, S, D and Peace Dollars hoping to sell some to recoup the money I spent on mine.

If I get current prices I’ll end up having got my own personal set of 1 of each for free since the profit will cover what I spent.

Im keeping the V75 ASE though.

Surprisingly the 125,000 mintage is pretty low for proof ASEs if you look at mintages for proofs from 1986 to 2020.

Oh yeah I noticed that the last 30 mins they were on sale the Mint website seemed to be pretty decent.

However it was slammed at the beginning and once a bunch of people got their orders in I think it freed up space.

 

Ebay Sold listings are closed/completed sales between $325 to $365.

Stupidly maybe I have a set from 2009-2021 and all this extra bla-bla ? Just wanted them once I got the ASE bug!

But none of those have sold.

From what I’ve seen they’ve been selling at around $375-$380.

 

I got one around 12:50pm, my wife got one about 1:15pm, and my son went on and got one right away at 2:07pm!!! I check around 2:25pm and it was no longer for sale.
On the selling side, I got an email from Pinehurst Coins, offering $400 for the set, so $500 on ebay doesnt sound crazy.....

Why aren’t they just buying them on EBay for like $350-$385?

How many of those auctions will be canceled by the sellers if the prices jump as deliveries start to happen? I bet more than half. They are a hedge option IMO. Prices don't jump,, honor the auction, prices jump,, cancel and refund. Who wants to tie up money when there is a chance the auction will never complete.

 

Maybe the sold listings on Ebay are all being purchased by them?

If so they must be a massive dealer (like APMEX sized) if they are still in need of more inventory.

I’ve noticed when the US Mint sets a household limit of 1 on popular items the resale value tends to be much higher than if it’s something like 10 or 5 or 3.

Like the V75 Silver Eagle.

Whereas the 2021 Morgan & Peace Dollars had a limit of 3 (10 for the CC and O mint marks) and even though they’re selling for more than the US Mint charges it’s still not too crazy.

My guess is it’s a lot harder for dealers to acquire inventory when they can only buy one at a time. Or a few at a time with help from friends & family.

 

EBay has dozens available for $400 or less.
