No, it's not. It is a 1984-P nickel that has had a rough life.

As @Paddy54 indicated, a 1934 Jefferson nickel would be something of an anomaly- impossible without a time machine, since the first Jefferson nickels were struck in 1938. Furthermore, the "P" mintmark is on the obverse. The Jefferson nickel mintmark did not move from the reverse to the obverse until 1968.

There's a very good reason you can't find it anywhere. It does not exist. Jefferson nickels didn't enter circulation until 1938. In 1934 the only nickels minted that year were the buffalo nickels. Sure, you could still find V nickels and shield nickels in circulation, but none of those would have the date of 1934.

BTW, welcome to CT. In order to get more feedback for your question you really should start a new thread. Hopping onto an old thread like this won't get the visibility you are looking for.

Well fellas.. y'all are both mistaken if you do some research I did my eyes hurt from looking at my damn computer screen LOL but there's only one thing I found on a 1934 Jefferson nickel and that there was only five put in production as a collector or something like that.. and on my nickel it clearly says 1934 where the date goes I'm not at home right now but when I get there I will take pictures
... And thank you for the feedback that's what I was waiting to see everybody's reply

The design competition for the Jefferson nickel was not held until early in 1938 and was chosen later that year. If someone minted a nickel with that design 4 years before it was created it was certainly not the U.S. Mint. Perhaps yours came from Madame Voodoo's Crystal Ball Fortune Telling and Coin Minting Service.

That's awesome! You should submit it to a TPG and protect your billion dollar coin. Wouldn't want it to lose value because of condition. :banghead:

@Joshua P Dement …it is not in decent shape, it’s been buried and dug up: Environmental Damage. And…as noted by other members, it cannot be a 1934. And…telling member experts they are wrong will not enamor you to anyone.

Get yourself a Yeoman Red Book and research before you post uneducated statements. Otherwise, go ahead and continue to post and remove all doubt.

Any nickel dated 1934 would have an Indian on the obverse and a nice large Buffalo on the reverse. Jefferson never appeared on the nickel until 1938.

Well everybody I appreciate yalls opinions.. but I have to tell every one of y'all so-called experts y'all are wrong very wrong and as soon as I get to my house I'm going to take a picture of it and put on here and every one of y'all are going to owe me a hundred push-ups on call plane as a day... This nickel is not roughed up is not faded and is not no kinds of discolored... I am willing to but everything I own versus a hundred bucks from everyone y'all that this says 1934 and the three is clean as day a 3... I should know because I put it up against a 1934 Buffalo nickel and oh my God guess what y'all the same three.. I might be a redneck but I know how to use Google.. so anybody want to bet hundred bucks... But I have to be honest with everybody I do thank yall for the insite.. I have learned several interesting facts about the nickel from Reading those posts but I'm a cold ass honky and the proof will be in front of me soon...

FYI.... Like I said y'all should wait and see the nickel before y'all say not possible because FYI to everybody anything's possible and you said I shouldn't be telling experts the wrong.. I'm a country boy from The sticks and obviously from what I was looking at they are wrong this reminds me of the scene on waterboy for the professor goes your mom is wrong and then the water boy goes Mama's not wrong and then takes the professor out and I'm not talking to lunch.. and if y'all are so confident since y'all are professionals oh I mean experts let's make a little gamble on this I mean what do y'all have to lose I don't know if you're going to be doing the push-ups but I can honestly sit here and say I bet most of y'all are obese and [Edited] And I know y'all don't know me from Adam and Eve and yes it's Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.. but one thing about a country boy when we say we're going to do something we do it.. and yes I'm a poor country boy but I will make everybody here another wager on top of this but don't worry if y'all lose you don't lose nothing but if this is a true 1934 Jefferson nickel I will take three quarters of what it's worth and donate it to a charity of any any choosing of y'all's.. see life ain't nothing but a Gamble so one thing I've learned in life never gambled a man at his own game.. and proof is right here.. so who's going to man up and take that bet... And which one of y'all are going to stay at the house and play with those blow up dolls I'm just saying hi my name is Chucky want to play...hahaha
