When there is a RPM, that is caused by punching the mint mark on the die again! Then that die is used to strike a whole bunch of coins. The sheer number of coins with that RPM results in not much value! They are really fun to find though!!!
I don't think there is any way to know how many were struck with a RPM die. Maybe someone else knows but it is a mystery to me!!! My guess would be at least several thousand! They continue to use the dies as long as they can I believe!
The enlarged image doesn't have the angle to show if the part of the mm struck first is rounded as the section of the mm far to left in photo. It should be as are normal mm. Usually the overlying second mm strike also will be rounded at top. This appears more like damage than an actual RPM.
