I bought the whole roll of these from the bank and there all in beautiful condition although i dont know much about grading they all look brand new my question is would you send your best one in if they looked like this and also why do the rim on some of these look off center or doubled?
Very nice pennies first off . With that being said, in MS-65 there only worth about 80 Cents each on a good day. The grading fees out weigh the value of course. I DO NOT see any doubling here. Thanks .
You'll have to create a separate thread and we will check them out to see if any Errors or Varieties . They minted over 1.7 Billion of these worth about 2 cents in Uncirculated condition .
Hi Paris, how have you been? You know, if you want to go to the trouble, you might can sell those on eBay for about $1.00 apiece. People on eBay will buy anything. Good Luck !
@Tracey L Aldrich Why bother with FleaBay? Why not steer her to ETSY where sellers will ask any ridiculous price they want. Isn't CT a place where we can teach people the finer points of numismatics, and not how to screw people (buyers) who don't know what they are doing?
Very common for the obverse to show a little mis-alignment, just part of the minting process. You should not see it as much on the reverse of your coins. It seems that you acquired a few rolls that recently came from a collection. These can be quite interesting due to the fact they have been in storage for a long time. http://www.varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO 1972-S.htm
@Tracey L Aldrich You say you bought them as a whole roll from the bank?? Looks like somebody dumped a collection there. I would go back and buy every customer wrapped roll they would let me buy of all denominations!..........just saying
And honestly i dint know what im doing i do know i do it cause i am intriqed and its fun searching i still dont know really how to identify dds rpms or anything im still learning but you guys on here have taught me alot and im very thankful
Time to jump in the water and swim. Go to doubleddie.com or Variety Vista. Navigate to LMC for specific date. It would help if you had a USB microscope, hard to see the doubling and die markers with a 10x loupe. You will need to learn how to use acetone to see the markers too. So, see? Lots to do, and lots to learn…the best part is you can use key words to search on Coin Talk to find and read/study about it all…imo…Spark
Sounds like someone had these rolls in their collection and decided to sell them for face value. Nice but not worth the cost to grade them.
Hey Hookman, you forgot me, I don't buy everything and anything I see on eBay. Tracey, there is nothing wrong with sealing your own coins, especially yours, there beautiful. Keep the one's you want and auction the others, on a site you trust. Good luck and keep posting.
Welcome to CT, or the Crazy Train to some. LOL If you want to get into collecting coins, not just to try and make money, but to assemble a set, then you are off to a good start. Buy an album or at least 2x2 inch "flips" to put your best specimens in. When you run across a coin that has you puzzled and you can't find the answer yourself, then by all means, post it in Full Image here for us to take a look at and give you our best answers. Good luck.
72 and 73 cents almost all have thick or what appears to be a tapered planchet, even though they weigh the same as other years, just something the mint was doing, higher pressure on presses , maybe??
oh, and here are the values,,,ms-63 is 7.48, ms-64 is 9.20, ms-65 is 19.20, ms-66 is 60.00, ms-67 275.00 any higher, name your price, lol this is numismedia price for 72-s red, mint state, lesser grades , yes, about 50-80 cents oh, and very beautiful coins by the way!!! great find,,the other day found a 77-s (proof) still in about ms-60..in a roll
online pcgs photograde free grading site, and numismedia for prices, they are more reasonable (fairer) than pcgs prices...it is what i use, those 62's are worth some in higher ms states as well 6.90 in ms-64 up to 680.00 in ms-67
Agree with post #14. Worth holding onto because the cost outlay is minimal. But there's not much you can do with them, unless you find one that is just a dazzler (MS 67) or so. (Ahaha I should have read the previous post.)
