I have a Kennedy album that includes the proofs through 2012... I noticed that it lacks slots for the mint set satin finish coins. Are there updated pages to correct this or is this a "glaring" error they overlooked? Is this the case with other Dansco coin albums?

PS - On the Amazon review of the album, they mention the fact that is lacking a slot for the 1998 S Sliver Matt Finish Proof... Was that the only year the mint made a Silver Matt Finish Proof and if so why?

Apparently no one has the slots for satins (yet) and they’re not listed separate from mint sets in the Red Book. I called Whitman and they said the satins are too specialized for inclusion in albums and The Red Book. I posted this earlier.

If you like the satinfinish coins and want to see them get the respect they deserve, copy the paragraph below or write your own and email it to Whitman Publishing at info@WhitmanBooks.com or mail it to: Whitman Publishing, LLC, 3103 Clairmont Road, Suite B, Atlanta, Georgia 30329

I am writing to ask when you plan on including the satin finish coins, produced by the US Mint since 2005, in your book, A Guide Book of United States Coins and in your coin albums. The third party grading services, as well as the collecting community recognize these satin finish coins as distinct varieties and those I’ve spoke with feel their collections are not complete without the satin finish varieties. These satin finish coins should be listed with each respective coin type as you currently do with proof coins. I’ll buy your products again when these satin finish coins are included and not until then.

This is one of the problems with commercial albums.
You have to accept their definition of what a complete set is.
Sometimes you end up with empty holes (how many here have an 1895 Morgan filling the hole in their album).
And sometimes you feel the album is incomplete like in this case.

Same thing with the 1996-W dime. No slot for it in Dansco album.

Guess I believe a complete set is complete, nothing left out, except ultra rarities most will never have. Yet, I don't like holes for modern proofs, as removing them from their mint packaging and sticking them in an album, most likely knocks them down a grade or more - very difficult to protect those mirrored fields and now you've exposed them (for eternity) to the elements. The satins, on the other hand and others mentioned in here would do well in albums and although low mintage, there are enough of them to complete a lot of albums. I hear from many collectors, they want the satins included - so, if we want action from the 3 big producers, we have to let them know what we want. It's in their own best interest to listen, as they'll maximize their profit by selling more albums and updates.
