God bless em..... I have never heard of the ACEF before. Do they have big enough teeth to do anything harsh enough to dissuade future shipments of these fakes?

I have a lot of respect for Mr. Minshull, and have for a very long time. He is tenacious when it comes to counterfeiting detection and fighting against it, not to mention his long experience.

Glad to hear officials are catching some of these fakes! :D They said there were Indian Head quarter eagles, terrible to hear about but good to know!

    Goodnews ksparrow,
Unfortunately most likely just a drop in a bucket of forgeries manufactured by these cretins.
Never the less, all the help we can get is appreciated.

ACEF et al. work closely with The Secret Service to shut these shipments down. The Secret Service can only do something when it is on US soil. Most of the sellers of these counterfeits are based out of country (China being one of the biggest manufacturers of Cf coins) and as such they can't do anything until they hit the country.

One of my biggest bug bears with the cf's is that Social media like Fb is ignoring complaints about these fakirs as all they care about is their revenue stream and they won't shut them down.

The GOOD thing is they are catching more and more of these through the efforts of people like y'all and ACEF. If you find Cf's being sold, especially in quantity, you can notify ACEF via the following link and they will do what they can, and, if it is possible, shut these people down.

ACEF has no enforcement powers, what they do is advise the SS and provide expert examination and opinion as to whether the mterils are counterfeit. According to Beth Descher the SS and customs can't actually seize the materials without an expert opinion that they are counterfeit. So the ACEF has a "stable" of experts across the country who can go and examine questioned shipments and render an opinion.

Also according to Beth, one of the reasons why for the longest time the SS was not paying attention to this problem was because they were viewing the coins as just being worth their face value. "Ten fake gold eagles? That's only $500. Not worth our time." The ACEF had to educate them on them numismatic and market values. "Ten fake gold eagles is almost $18,000! It IS worth your time!"
