1916 D Merc?

I just bought this coin (pic attached). It was represented as a plain 1916 but I'm sure I see a mintmark. I think it's a 'D'. Anyone have an opinion on it?

I own a 1916 D in Fair condition, ie. also very worn. It looks similar.

    Thanks in advance.

Does it look like a D or an S to you?

If anything, it looks more like an S than a D.

I saw it, even before you circled it. I just don't know what "it" is. It doesn't look like the top of a D to me, though, so I would tend to give it a thumbs-down.

When all else fails, run it up the flagpole and see who salutes: Put it on eBay as a 1916 of unknown mintmark (don't even hint that it's a 1916-D; just show pics) and see if it goes anywhere.

I don't think thats a mintmark you see. It's too high in the field.

    It looks like an S.

    Look at the rounded top.

I agree with many of you. If it's anything, it's an S.

    Last try

    Does this change any minds:

    Top - my coin

    2nd - known 16 D

    3rd - known 16 D

    Thanks again, JasonB

Seeing all those pictures, my mind is only further made up that yours is not a 16-D.
