I used to own this one, PCGS XF-40. I sold it a few years ago. Kinda regret selling it, but it doesn't even remotely fit into any of my collecting focuses.
Everybody wants the dollar or 8 reales, but the little half real is interesting too. This is a little bigger than a half dime with a value of 6 and a quarter cents.
I have a 1795 half Reale, from the "1982 New Orleans Hoard". l purchased it from James Cohen Coin Shop on Royal St. in N.O., in 1983 for $15.00. At the time, he had one of the wooden boxes on display, too. I have no idea as to what it was actually worth, I wanted it for the history of it. My super shitty $5 junk box buy from years and years ago. $5 was melt on this at the time, late 1980s.
I think this one is pretty cool. Dealer 2x2 has it as a contemporary counterfeit but I haven’t studied it enough to form an opinion.
