Am I to understand that even if a seller states 'No Returns' in their description, if I pay with Paypal, I can send the coin (or whatever item I purchase) back and get a refund? Not that I'm new to the 'bay, but I was never aware of this rule. What option do you use when you file with Paypal (assuming, of course, the seller is staunch in his 'no return' policy, you'd have to file through Paypal, freeze the $$, send the item back). Say you bought a coin that had 'not so clear' images. I think it's a certain variety (this is a real situation for me)...seller 'couldn't' send me clearer images, and due to the real possibility of pulling off a MAJOR rip, I just had to take the chance and use my paultry 'ebay bucks', and put up only $13.00 of my own money. The coin is toned, and coupled with the semi blurry images, it's a tough call to be 100% certain, so I had to jump on it....$13 is a cheap gamble, but with the 'no return' policy, I figured if it WASN'T what I believe it to be, I'm only out $13 (my ebay bucks, I don't count that as 'out of pocket'). SHOULD it be what I BELIEVE it to be (I'm 75% sure it IS the variety I believe it to be, but there's still a 25% chance it isn't), I'll turn an under $45 purchase into a $500-$1,000 coin (depending if it crosses at it's NGC MS66 grade with PCGS, it's $1,000....if it dumps to an MS65, it's $500). Now, if it ISN'T what I BELIEVE it to be, my grounds for return can't be 'thought it was an unattributed variety that was a major rip'....what would my basis for return be...'not as described/imaged' due to the poor images? Is this factual (not that I'm doubting you, kanga). I just never knew it was an existing rule with Paypal. Your help/advice will be greatly appreciated IF it isn't what I'm hoping it to be. You can reply here, or shoot me a PM. Thanks, kanga!!
Well I hope they reply here - personally I would never bid without clear pictures and went they tell me they cannot get better pictures I skip the auction. For me and this is just my opinion if the coin came in and it was not the variety I thought it was, I would keep it. I do not blame sellers for my mistakes. This is assuming the seller did not list the variety. Also if the seller said AU and it wasn't - then that may be grounds. BUT if it comes in as the auction describes I think you should keep it. Just my humble opinion.
Good news everything arrived and I mean literally. I'm gonna go through everything now I got 6 silver dimes for free with my purchase.

Yes, but you have to do through "back channels", i.e., e-mailing each other. You and the seller agree to a different payment method such as a Money Order. BUT By not going through PayPal you lose the Buyer Protection. If the deal goes wonky eBay/PayPal will say "tough noogies".
1857 FE seems the nicest, both 1858's have some damage. The 1861 Indian is the nicest out of them all.
Yes. PayPal is not required, but rather an electronic method guaranteeing you some protection. Many mostly large dealers will accept other credit cards and that with eBay's blessing. However, for other methods, kanga is absolutely correct.
Im going through the bag of wheaties looks like there's 500 or so. I'll let ya know if there any older ones included
I can't find a statement about what specific reasons are valid for a return and a request for refund. May not even have to be specified. The best sellers state that returns can be made for any reason. It's to the seller's benefit to accept returns and do FULL refunds including S&H. You can give a negative feedback, he can't. But, of course, don't threaten the seller with that; don't even mention it.
Can someone describe/show me what a woody penny looks like. I found a fairly interesting 1920 penny in the mix that's in very good shape.
