Have the "rules" changed for CRH during the "coin shortage"?

For example, "don't crap where you eat" / don't dump at your supply banks. These days it almost seems like you should dump at your supply banks occasionally so that you don't constantly run any one bank down to nothing. (I mark my rolls so that I don't get stuff I've already searched.)

The key is communication and established good relationships with your banking professionals. I've been known to engage in a little corruption of bringing goodies like fancy candies, baked goods, event tickets etc to my bank tellers. No problems here, they even call me when the numismatic treasures cross their counters. Got a call just yesterday and had to pick up some Ikes, etc. I have one teller that is a bit of a collector and I sell stuff at face to her, so she will save stuff for me.

As @scottishmoney said, building a relationship with a bank or a specific teller at a bank will help you a lot in times like these. It's also good to thank the tellers every so often for selling you coin, just in general, because they don't have to do it (several banks in my area don't in general as they see it as a time consumer). I normally give the tellers that help me out lottery tickets, especially now with the shortages.

The deal personally right now is whatever I bring to the bank, they will sell me the same amount, so an even exchange. I have found most banks are willing to do this if you have the coin, as they aren't losing anything. I normally only search fed-wrapped or machine wrapped boxes, and the coin I take in is normally taken to other banks anyway, so the chance of me getting the same coin back is very slim. I mark my rolls as well, but like I said, I don't often search customer rolls, unless they look intriguing. The tellers who sell me the coin normally watch for anything older/interesting and will let me know about it if it's still around when I'm in.

As @CaptainMac has mentioned - I've been known to re-wrap coin and take it to another bank that was low on coin as a favour. I've also bought boxes of coins that turned out to be all new coins and taken them somewhere else to trade for CWR coins to search through.

And tellers - they've told me that there is a 5% charge for rolled coin - but somehow I have never been charged for it. It's all about the schmoozing.
