    it appears to be weakly struck, which would occur in a coin missing the plating on both sides...

    Not likely, it would only reduce the thickness of the planchet by .0006 inches. Normal variation in the thickness just from the rolling of the strip is MUCH greater than that. Weight tolerance for a zinc cent would allow the thickness to vary by as much as +/- .004 inches.
