https://www.ebay.com/itm/114976249631?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 A really terrible fake 73-cc which I have reported. Tried to contact seller but got a message from ebay that the seller "could not be reached." Never had that happen. up to about 380 with multiple bids and ends Sunday at 3pm. Time to muster the cavalry!
Its a private bidder to interestingI can understand why,it would be embarrassing to buy top dollar fake coins and be humiliated forever.
If any surface of any silver coin appears grainy looking, then it's a fake. Look at the edge. Has its weight been checked? Have you or can you have it's tested?
His 1891-CC Morgan doesn't look much better. Experimental Planchet, Play-Doh Composition, apparently. Edit: he sold two others in June, or else tried two times to sell this one, getting positive feedback once.
Dead giveaway: The motto looks absolutely horrible. There are other issues, too, like the stars on the obverse. On a real coin, the outlines of them should be sharp and pointed, even with wear. The ones on this coin are rounded and mushy.
Thanks everyone for helping get this one taken down. I didn't save photos as it was egregiously bad. eBay doesn't seem especially interested in removing fakes until there is some unspecified "critical mass" of reports, imo.
There is a reason for that. 1 fake report could easily be from a seller with a competing coin trying to get the competition out of the way. It is one of the few protections they offer sellers. 1 fake report will usually not get an auction pulled.
Try tagging @Jack D. Young for future cf reports, he is an absolute legend at getting these shut down on feeBay
