Just to follow up with Evan YES that is a major step in the right direction, but it needs to be a standard service, open and shared with all auctions and vendors who can then add to it. You should be able to pull your entire collection up from it and it needs to be annotated with pedigree facts. But yes, that is a huge huge first step to providing transparency to the market and assuring real security.
I do think that gold shield will be the new standard eventually. PCGS has taken more steps than anyone (from what I've seen) to innovate in the security department.
I add gold shield to everything I send in. Am going to send in some that don't have it because I want the truview imaging for the coins.
