To tell the truth I’m not sure. It does look like a little but I think it had another coin on top of it so it didn’t turn as dark as the rest of the coin.
Hi All - (I've been out of town since last Thursday) Based on the dark condition of the coin in the OP's first photos, and the one above, it's been de-plated. Genuine Un-plated Zinc Cents look more like 1943 Steel Cents, not this dark surface type. I am saying this based on the photos provided. The general rule is: If it's bright and shiny, it's been re-plated. If it's dark, dull, and grey, it's been de-plated. The genuine ones are pretty easy to determine when seen in-hand. There are numerous certified Unplated Zinc cents that have been de-plated, especially those dated in the early-mid '80's/.
If you took 5 seconds to do the research yourself, you wouldn't have had to wait so long. I am not unprofessional nor unreasonable. I am just not lazy, like yourself.
@charley 2 seconds of searching this very site on the subject would have brought up these informational pages that I posted on a different thread...but you didn't because it was easier for someone to tell you than to do research yourself.
That is rude, right there. called out @Conder101 then @JCro57 Do you have a bone to pick @charley? I believe you were wrong on both conversations, and they deserve an apology.
Yawn. Do you have a bone to pick? Calm down. You still don't get it. It is concerning your sanctimonious condescending posts toward the OP and the TPG and CONECA. It is concerning your absolutism of judging a piece as garbage, from very questionable photos. It is concerning your lack of the professionalism you espouse, by your supposed infallible position, yet you did not see the piece in hand. This is professionalism: This is professionalism: This is professionalism: Do you understand now? Do you understand how discourteous it is to state what you did in the manner that you did? All my posts concerning your discourtesy have been urging you to simply opine in a professional manner, i.e., "I haven't seen the coin in hand, but', or "The pictures are not the bests, but based on my experience, my opinion is", or "it is maybe possible to be certain as to the cause using forensics".....or ANYTHING that was absent calling something GARBAGE and adamantly declaring your opinion as not an opinion but Dogma. You had a wonderful teaching moment. You chose to not do so and instead to play "lookatme" at the expense of the OP. You could have (as a very savvy professional would) turned the thread into a great education opportunity and enhanced your status as a professional, and most likely increase the economic opportunity of your book. Your decision was to proudly proclaim you are not giving anything away (for free), and people are lazy and won't just go out there and (humblebrag) "suffer" the years of turmoil and sweat and tears....blahblah, and because you are asked , as a professional, how you are absolutely correct, you claim the questioner is using psychology and manipulating you to reveal (do you grasp how paranoid appearing that is?) your wisdom and Solomon-like finality of decision. You do not need to continue to humblebrag. Mr. Weinberg courteously and professionally endorsed your research and the culmination of same via publication. I don't read into that endorsement a carte blanche appreciation for declaring the holdings of a collector or dealer or hobbyist as GARBAGE. A member has mentioned I should apologize for being rude. That is silly, but it may be helpful to the member to ponder if a professional declares with omnipotence that the possession of a fellow hobbyist is GARBAGE, without physically examining the coin in hand, and without clear pictures and without any forensic research, is "'rude" or maybe it is simply ignorance. Such a declaration of Godliness transcends bluntness. It was a deliberate and caustic uttering. I expect a higher degree of communication from a professional and I will not apologize for expressing my expectation clearly and precisely and why. Do you not ask an attorney or a physician why? Do you not ask a fiduciary why? Do you not ask your tax preparer why? Or, do you proceed thru life on the basis of all answers being "I told you so, that's why". It worked when my mom and dad said it. Otherwise, not so much. Either way, there will not be an apology. Fire away.
It doesn't take long to see who actually wants to learn and/or be an actual contributer, and who just loves to hear themselves talk and stir up drama, eh @Pickin and Grinin ? We have been on here a while
I do. What's your problem? Do you think you are some kind of authority? Let me give you the wake up call your not. So whats the problem, You have decided to go after some of the folks that have more knowledge in their little finger than you have at all. Grow up, No one here was rude or in the face of collecting nut. It is only you that decided to have a problem and try to stir the pot. You don't understand than educate your self. It's not that hard, we have been giving out the tools on this forum for years.
If you have it out of your system, now, that is what is important for your health. Moving on is best, but I do appreciate your awareness of my faults.
