I bought a box with over 125 religious items in it to sell in my antique shop. I got it so cheap it should be illegal and there is some really nice items there. A few pieces of sterling and items from the 1940’s. I don’t collect foreign coins but every once in awhile I run across one that just strikes me as a keeper. This was the only coin in the box but it’s a keeper to me. I just love the camel. Then on the right obverse it has the words FOOD SECURITY. It s from SOMALIA and its 10 shillings.
Neat! There are a number of ancient coins with an elephant and many other animals but I can’t recall a camel on any of them. Just a lot different than what we have so nice to see.
Yep, I like seeing atypical animals on coins. I can’t afford some of the animal ancients so moderns are OK.
Very nice, thanks for sharing that. I just showed this to my wife and she’s like , so what? I told her I liked it and was going to keep it. Her reply, “another coin I have to price and sell when you die.” Then she laughed and added that she’s going to die first so I’ll have the problem of liquidating my coins. She laughed at that.
