The psychologist maybe is dismissing the very basic ancient part of the human brain that is instinct: the Hunter-Gatherer survival priority. Modern humans have converted this instinct to finding objects, as the competitive hunter portion of the ancient brain signal, and to possessing objects, as the gatherer portion of the ancient brain signal. My wife told me. That is why she buys stuff, she said. It is science, she said. My mind wanders. I can't find my wallet.
I recently bought this book. I'm about 5-6 chapters in. Not far enough to really give a good review yet.
