i am buying or trying to buy a 1854 seated quarter . to me it looks vf but i have no red book and dont know what the going price for these coins is .so any help is welcome on how to tell the grade on them and what price i should pay. logging off for tonight but will answer tomorrow thanks dave
Show us some pictures or the site you are want to buy it. Otherwise we can be of little help to you. The 1854 Seated Liberty Quarter you are refering to has three different : 1) with arrows but no rays, or 2) a 1854O with arrows and no rays ,or 3) an 1854o, huge O. This is the most valuable one. I sughgest you google on it and read up about it so you know what you are buying. Good luck and welcome.
Check out numismedia and PCGS PCGS currently offers virtual grading for 25 different coins, not sure if yours is listed but if so you can grade it then get the prce from the price guide. Any pcitures or links would be appreciated
Good info given by these two people. I question the sanity of even thinking about such a purchase until you can make reasonable judgments about: - grade - value This is about a $60 coin: - if your estimated grade is correct - if it's an inexpensive variety Are you willing to part with that much not being reasonably familiar with the specifics?
So why not join the rest of the world and purchase a Red Book? I wonder if Whitman will send me something for my referral.
some pics for you not the biggest but that is the best i can get from he's ebay listing was it cleaned i cant tell but you might dave.
i dont think so but if they do you must half with me lol as to join the rest of the world would every usa person that collects coins that has a irish coin in there collections i would not expect them to buy the books on irish coins not that there are many but you know what i mean.dave
It certainly appears cleaned to me. Sometimes, scanned images look worse than they are and give that dead grey look. Maybe that happened here, but I doubt it.
I don't know much about seated liberties but this one I really like. It doesn't looked cleaned to my eyes. Very nice coin depending what the asking price is. I'd go $250 tops.
do they retail for this or is the red book price one saying $60 the other $250 some one please help the bidding ends in 23 hours and at present it is going for $18 . by the way thanks for all the help so far dave
