Good afternoon all I found a 1974 s Lincoln cent in one of my books that has the I missing in liberty ( which I’m sure is from a grease filled die ) but I wanted to know if the damage around the rest of the coin pictured is going to be from a rolling machine and if not what else could have caused it? Many thanks in advance for any answers given 1974 s cent by Darren Edwards posted Sep 6, 2021 at 1:13 PM 1974 s cent by Darren Edwards posted Sep 6, 2021 at 1:13 PM 1974 s cent by Darren Edwards posted Sep 6, 2021 at 1:13 PM 1974 s cent by Darren Edwards posted Sep 6, 2021 at 1:13 PM 1974 s cent by Darren Edwards posted Sep 6, 2021 at 1:13 PM
I've not seen this type of damage frequently before, but I would have to say it is PMD. It has taken hits causing the letters to be damaged. JMHO.
There was grease in the die in that area. Very common. The other is damaged but who knows how it was caused. Not like anything I’ve seen from a coin rolling machine.
