If anybody is so inclined, one of the most beautiful 1881s Morgans is up for auction at Great Collections. It has 8 hours left, and is at 2 grand. What do you think the hammer price will be?
wow I don't know a guess on the price but she is a beauty. I do have my eye on a few Morgan's today there but she is out of my league haha.
No, I never owned this one. It is from the Goldenboy collection. I am gonna guess $3200 plus the vig.
It's certainly possible. Some would like to see more green and a little less breaks in the toning (the area below "UNUM" could end up hurting the max potential value). It will be interesting to see what the final price is.
It's fair...anyone can do it...but beware of another sniper...can get costly depending on your (and their) snipe bids. Happened to me...once...on a much smaller scale.
It‘s certainly a great coin, but I‘d prefer a 66+ with toning on both sides… oh and 3K is a bit too much for a Morgan Dollar IMO :-D
Not for that coin. It is gorgeous in person, and has a super pedigree. I have my limit how much I would pay.
I’m in the the grand plus range, plus fees. You just don’t see them like this very often. I just bought a CSA note for over $3000 so that lets me out. Lol
$1,350 in 2018; so the buyer made some money (if that is when he bought it): https://www.greatcollections.com/Co...Silver-Dollar-NGC-MS-67-226-152-133-CAC-Toned
I did not have that kind of cash but had some Great Collection success tonight. Hoping this 82S MS-64 PL in A green PCGS holder looks good in hand. Could not blow the pics up larger. Also won a 1901 o MS-64 that has nice clashing , hoping with some letter transfer.
It looks nicer than a typical 64 (I could see it as a 65/65+). The PL is a bit more debatable as the standards were thought to be looser for PL and DMPL in that era. I think you did fine overall on the purchase and hopefully the mirrors are nice in-hand. Here is the picture, let's see if it comes out any better this way: Edit: yep this way you can click and enlarge the photo
