I'd like to get one of the Latvia 1 lat 2005. It's a new issue. Where can one get a coin like this? I know about, "look on ebay," but are there other places? Dealers who can get it?
samjimmy, This place currently has the 2004 lats (there were two designs). He has an 800 number and I'll bet he would find a 2005 for you.I've dealt with him several times and have always been happy with the service. http://www.joelscoins.com/new2.htm (lats are about 1/2 way down the page) you can call, write or email him. You might want to try http://www.chervonets.com The site deals with quite a fair bit of ex-USSR coins. If you can't find the coins that you want, just email and ask. Chances are that you might be able to get what you want as the dealer might be able to order for you. P.S. I have dealt with the dealer before so no worries about reputation. I give it a thumbs up.
I didn't see any in my pocket change, or my relatively futile attempt to get some from a local bank when the cruise ship stopped in Riga last month.
I agree with this recommendation. As a matter of fact, just a couple hours ago I ordered the very coin you are asking about, along with the 2003 & 2004 Latvian lats (2003=ant, 2004=mushroom). His price is $4.00 (assuming he still has more in stock ). This is probably my 10th order from him. Always pleased with his service and selection.
I ended up ordering it from a guy on Ebay (from that area), same price but with $2 shipping, that seller may have ben a bit cheaper.
