The modern British coin designs are quite bizarre, given that each one's design is sort of a "puzzle piece"- only part of the bigger picture. You've got part of one of the lions there, obviously, and the corner of the Irish harp.

It's apparently a fake Henry III Gold Penny from the 1250s, I'm really not sure what to make of it. If it's real it's one of only 10 or so examples known in the world and I've not the first idea what to do with it. Had it for three months and I'm terrified of it in case I damage it. Tried to get it valued with no luck from a few reputable Jewellers where I stay in Scotland. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Start your own topic about it. Go back out to the World Coins forum and click the blue "Start New Thread" button. You'll also almost certainly need to post pictures of it if you want anyone to be able to give any opinions about it.

And nobody with any sense would ask a jeweler for an opinion on the value of a rare coin. He might be able to tell you the spot (bullion) value, or test the gold, but unless he's also a numismatic expert, you're asking the wrong person. (Unless the jewelers in Scotland are much different and better versed in numismatics than their American counterparts on this side of the pond.)
