Next up: My Lincoln Cents, with proofs: Missing only the 1909-S VDB the very early proofs (1909-1916, which unless I strike it rich, I'll never get) and the 1939-1942 Proofs of which, I'm in the process of searching out and planning on getting.
That is a really nice set you have amassed! Congratulations for you and your efforts. And I am in full agreement regarding the proofs, and I'll likely not pursue them either. Still, great album and congrats!
This reminded me that i have a few folders that belonged to my great grandfather. I still need to finish them for him.
Very nice set! I am only missing 1909-S no VDB, 1914-D, and 1924-S. Have 1918-S and 1925-S in UNC BN.
Outstanding set! I'm a few more shy than you are but I'm working on #12 and #13 7106 albums that I call the "grandchildren project"
Well I went out and bought that 1928-S Large MM, and a better looking 1928-S Small MM while I was at it:
Very nice. I put one in after 1958, still not sure what to do with the other two holes. I really like your labels, they blend in quite well.
I am not good at such varieties at all, but simply curious: besides size, how do you differentiate the small MM compared to large MM?
Not only that, but the large MM S ends with a 'trumpet bell' serif and the upper curve is much thinner. have a look:
On this site it says that the large S was only used in 1928. It is kind of an odd duck, along with 1981 proofs. As far as cents are concerned. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/San_Fransisco_Mintmark_Styles.html
