Dansco Album 8176 complete with proofs and Varieties. You will note that I managed to find the correct label tape to add additional information to the locations and also adding to the 4 blank holes on the last page.
I think it's really nice how you got the Eisenhower Centennial Commemorative and 5-Star Generals Silver Proof Commemorative in - really pleasing.
Nice set, but you're missing the proof 71-S silver type 1 reverse, which in MY OPINION ONLY was added to satisfy someone over at the Ike Group, who happened to discover this "type" and therefore made it almost impossible to assemble a complete Ike set. That's a nice set. I thought the 5-star General coins were well-done, and I have the complete set. Mintage was low so I guess it was not that popular, which makes it nice for people who do have them. Also it seems the Dansco album is not available anymore? It shows "unavailable" at Dansco and is close to $50 on Amazon. That kinda sucks as you inspired me to start an uncertified set. Thanks for post!
Been checking the ike group page. I never heard of the type 1 1971-S silver reverse, Now I need to research it and try to get one.. (If it truly exists)
But thanks for all the comments. I'll be posting up my other albums in a bit (Roosevelt dime, Jefferson nickel, and Lincoln cent)
Last I heard during the pandemic is that Dansco was moving to a new location, but that got messed up because of it. I do hope they get back in the business of making albums again. After all what will do moving forward with the newest coins coming out?
Does anyone have a 71-S PR T-1 rev.? It would not be considered a regular issue even if one does exist, I don't think.
On this one, did you do some custom labeling for those last few coins..? Looks like in photos but can't tell for sure. If so, very nice job...might consider doing it for the reverse sides...turn the album upside down so reverses are UP, and attach labels below coins like the obverse.
Good luck on your progress. I would go for the Ikes first as they are not that expensive really and is a nice short set to assemble. The most expensive one was the 1972 type 2 coin that cost me only about $70.00. So I think that the Ike set in definitely an easily acquirable set to accomplish.
Yes I did, I have a 'brother P-Touch EDGE' hand held labeler' I found label tape that is a perfect size for labeling (6mm tape Black ink on clear tape) I'm a data guy professionally and I deal with patch panels in server rooms, So my labeler can make labels for multiple spots (evenly spaced) in one long strip. it Looks great that way. [I'll post up a sneak peek of my Lincoln Cent album to showcase what I'm talking about.] What a great Idea of labeling the reverse side!! Hadn't thought of that.. I may take up that idea and run with it..
here is a sample of my labeling for multiple holes. and a pic of all my Dansco albums. (So far) The paper work on top of the albums are spread sheets for each album documenting my coins (date, mint, mintage either business or proof, purchase date, purchase price, Grade, and if slabbed-tpg company
