Most likely PMD. Still a crazy find from pulling out of a coin wrapper first glance. 20210904_083557.jpg 20210904_083615.jpg

Now how could the mint produce something like that? PMD all the way.

I assume PMD is "post mint damage" therefore, with that admission, I would write that it just looks like a poorly made coin, and not hardly collectable; unless you collect junk.

Unfortunately, they are collecting junk. Imagine yourself just beginning circulation finds nowadays and only finding clad or Zincolns…very disappointing. And any wheats that show up are extremely worn or late-date common.

New collectors are desperate to find anything unique, couple that with Boob Tube misinformation and, as they say: “Bob’s your uncle”…imo…Spark

Thanks for clearing that up. I have never really been one to buy rolls of coins to search for special dates, having been warned a long time ago that most wrapped coins have already been searched. That goes back to about 1956, when I first started looking for 1950-D Jefferson nickels.

So maybe I need to reevaluate the bunch of old coins that I have. I did recently pay more than I hoped for some Morgan dollars that I will leave to one of my grandchildren some day. But my "collection of Lincoln cents will still be short some years because of the prices of certain coins, which I'm too cheap to buy.

All, I mean all, Morgan's are keepers Dutch. In any condition in my opinion. Your heirs will be grateful for sure. Don't give up on those needed pennies, you might be surprised to find a decent one, or more, at a price you may be able to afford! Sorry Amberlarry, PMD. Keep up the good search and keep the posts coming... Thanks

You are welcome, but it is probably true. Hopefully one of my grandkids or great grandkids will enjoy the hobby I started when I was playing LL baseball in Toronto in the late 40's and early 50's. My coin collecting was about as disorganized as the baseball league was.

I truly think the Morgans are the most well designed coins and I will keep the ones I have. I remember my 1st trip to Vegas and trying to "rathole" some collectable dollars, but had to forego that plan to eat!
