1956 d error?

Was wondering what is going on here with this wheat penny it looks to have alot going on or maybe its been through some damaging times could someone give an answer please?

DEFDAM Definitely Damaged
Someone attempted to puncture a hole on the reverse which flattened the area on the obverse.
There's also a gouge above LIBERTY that's damage.

Not a mint error of any kind.

Possibly the victim of a pellet gun. We did this as kids to improve our aim. All damage.

It's always a shame that someone would do this to a coin. It is a wheatie so I would keep it. Thanks for sharing.

 

Whatever damaged it, it looks kind of neat. Almost a perfect O overprinted between the E and N.

 

It almost dead center of the coin, I wonder if it was used a pivot to allow something else rotate or spin..

 

What are the teeth marks ablve the liberty ive seen those kn many coins before

The 'teeth' marks could be impact marks from the edge of a reeded coin.

Interesting effect on the reverse. It looks like the indention caused a cratering effect with a rim.
