Hey amigos I got a new Breton token and I wanted to show it to someone. I mean I got the wife to show it to but it's futile to show her.:D Anyways, it's from Canada and it's a Breton token 1820. Cost me $20 and change, hope I didn't do to bad. I was bidding on one (Breton) a few days back and it went for over $100. After I saw that happen I said shoot, I want to get one of those for my collection. Of course mine may never be worth any where near $100 and it doesn't look like that one either, but I like it. Also, here's a chance to post a token if you want. It don't have to be a Conder, Jeton, Breton or civil war. It can be any token. thx

Nice token Fretboard! And it sounds like you got it at a good price.

Does the token represent a blacksmith? I see the anvil, and are those coal shovels to keep the fires hot? Regardless it's a nice token :thumb:

Wow I love that bottom token up there!! Sometimes I check the price on that one and someday I may get one. I should stay on top of it a bit more as I really like that one.

Does anyone know anything about Bretons?

Two_Bits: I noticed the anvil right away and hearing before hand that blacksmith tokens go for killer prices easily made getting this Breton a no-brainer.

A "blacksmith" token and te Breton token are two totally different things. The blacksmith tokens that go for so much are basically anonymous tokens that were made to resemble low grade british halfpence. And we are talking really low grade, often barely identifiable. But they were made that way to try and make people think they had been circulating that long. I think they got the name "blacksmith" because they looked the kind of crude pieces that someone with just simple blacksmith tools could make rather than true coining equipment.
