Show us some pictures or the site you are want to buy it. Otherwise we can be of little help to you. The 1854 Seated Liberty Quarter you are refering to has three different : 1) with arrows but no rays, or 2) a 1854O with arrows and no rays ,or 3) an 1854o, huge O. This is the most valuable one.
I sughgest you google on it and read up about it so you know what you are buying. Good luck and welcome.

    Check out numismedia and PCGS
PCGS currently offers virtual grading for 25 different coins, not sure if yours is listed but if so you can grade it then get the prce from the price guide.
Any pcitures or links would be appreciated

Good info given by these two people.
I question the sanity of even thinking about such a purchase until you can make reasonable judgments about:
    - grade
    - value

This is about a $60 coin:
    - if your estimated grade is correct
    - if it's an inexpensive variety

Are you willing to part with that much not being reasonably familiar with the specifics?

So why not join the rest of the world and purchase a Red Book?
I wonder if Whitman will send me something for my referral.

It certainly appears cleaned to me.

Sometimes, scanned images look worse than they are and give that dead grey look. Maybe that happened here, but I doubt it.

I don't know much about seated liberties but this one I really like. It doesn't looked cleaned to my eyes. Very nice coin depending what the asking price is. I'd go $250 tops.
